STARS Computing Corps is an organization dedicated to broadening participation of underrepresented groups in computing (BPC) within institutions of higher education. STARS aims to increase computing persistence and promote career advancement for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty, with a focus on addressing systemic and social barriers faced by those from underrepresented groups in computing. We are focused on doing outreach with other schools and community colleges in the community to help with BPC, as well as encouraging students at UMBC to take part in computing. Our goal is to provide support to students at UMBC and in the community with academic and career advancement, such as hosting workshops to apply to scholarships or finding research and internship opportunities.
