Explore the cross-cultural experiences in Morocco and of the living reminiscences of the Arab presence in Al-Andalus, which is the modern-day Iberian peninsula.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
MLL 300 & MLL 305: Students will learn the cross-cultural influences shared between Morocco and Spain that still exist today. Those who already completed MLL 305, will enroll in MLL 300 worth 6 credits. Graduate level students may enroll in MLL 600: Topic - Morocco (3 credits) and MLL 600: Topic - Spain (3 credits) for a total of 6 credits.
PROGRAM DETAILS
- MLL 300 & MLL 305 or MLL 600
- Overnight stay with an Amazigh (Berbers, indigenous people of North Africa) host family in the Atlas Mountains in Fez, Morocco
- Visits to sites of historical and cultural significance, including Batha Fez and Dar Batha Museum in Morocco; El Castillo (the castle with the Moorish wall) in Marbella, Spain; and a ferry ride from Tangier to Tarifa (Spain)
- Experiential learning activities including culture, language, and flamenco dance workshops
