Engage with the program theme of the Spirit of Place by exploring Welsh landscapes, history, and culture in ways that influenced and inspired the literary works that came from that region.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
ENGL 475 will help students cultivate an enhanced awareness of, and greater facility in evoking landscape and culture in their writing, such that this will inform their future work, whether at home in their own communities or abroad.
PROGRAM DETAILS
- Readings from guest authors
- Multi-day excursion to Ty Newydd with tours of a Criccieth castle and Blaenau slate mine
- Visits to sites of historical and cultural significance, including an excursion to Teifi Farmhouse Cheese and National Wool Museum, Rhiannon Welsh Gold Centre, and an optional hike or bus tour
