The Niyamas 5 Week Yoga Series
When was the last time you did something for yourself? Take a moment from your Monday to find balance and restore inner peace during our five week yoga series.
Jalisa Monroe will guide us through a 60-minute gentle Vinyasa/Hatha inspired yoga class on 6/10, 6/17, 6/24, 7/8 and 7/15. We will connect the mind, body, and breath through the use of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing) techniques.
In this series, Jalisa will incorporate the theme of The Niyamas - the second of the eight limbs of yoga. The Niyamas, which focus on our attitudes towards ourselves for personal observances, will be broken down as follows:
Week 1: Saucha - Cleanliness
Week 2: Santosa - Contentment
Week 3: Tapas - Discipline
Week 4: Svadhyaya - Self-study
Week 5: Ishvara Pranidhana - Union with the divine
During this yoga series, participants can expect:
To learn how to breathe from the diaphragm, along with other pranayama techniques
An introduction to the the five Niyamas
Guidance in-and-out of basic asanas
Yoga philosophy
