Turn Your Teaching Problem into a SoTL Project
Are you seeing patterns in the challenges your students face in your course each semester? Is there a recurring issue in your students’ learning that you’ve made random attempts at addressing? Would you like to know rather than just sense that what you’ve tried is working? If so, join us for this special summer edition of the SoTL discussion group. In this hands-on session, we will guide you through a brainstorming process designed to help you “Turn Your Teaching Problem into a SoTL Project.” You’ll begin to design a systematic approach toward solving a teaching/ learning problem and gathering evidence to document the outcomes of your intervention. Along the way, you may even find a research collaborator among fellow participants!
Participants attending any session will receive a copy of the book, Engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and
Learning: A Guide to the Process and How to Develop a Project from Start to
Finish by Bishop-Clark and Dietz-Uhler, Stylus Publishing, 2012. A light snack will also be provided.
