Small Steps, Big Shifts: Trying Out Alternative Grading in Your Classroom √ §
Curious about moving away from points-based assessment?
Tuesday, April 7, 2026 · 12 - 1 PM
Online
You don't have to overhaul your entire course to experiment with ungrading. This session is designed for faculty who are curious about moving away from points-based assessment but aren't sure where to start — or who've dipped a toe in and want to go a little further. We'll look at low-stakes, adaptable approaches to assessment that center student reflection and self-evaluation. We’ll also discuss what has and hasn't worked in our own classrooms and talk honestly about the challenges, including student resistance, AI, and grade deadlines. Come ready to listen, learn, and share.
Please click "Going Virtually" below to reserve your seat for this
session, and we will send you a Google calendar invitation with a WebEx
link one hour before the session. If you register less than an hour
before the session, you will receive the WebEx link when you register.
Please email fdc@umbc.edu
if you have any questions. If you have registered and find that you can
no longer attend, please kindly release your spot so that others may
attend.
