The Language, Literacy, and Culture Program is pleased to announce that Gina Lewis of LLC Cohort 25 successfully and skillfully presented her dissertation research proposal on May 12, 2026.
Gina's project is titled, Liberation Aesthetics and the Infrastructure of Memory: Resistance, Resilience, and Persistence in a Descendant-Led Public History of Kenner, Louisiana. The presentation was followed by an in-depth discussion between Gina and the committee regarding the project's evolution. The committee agreed that the project is worthy of doctoral research and provided constructive feedback as Gina moves forward into the research and writing.
