Each year, three national higher education organizations--the American Democracy Project, The Democracy Commitment, and NASPA--jointly host a Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement (CLDE) meeting. The meeting is an important forum for people interested in how colleges and universities can prepare students to be active contributors to their communities and democracy.
The 2016 CLDE meeting will take place June 2nd-4th in Indianapolis, Indiana. As with the Imagining America conference earlier this semester, the CLDE meeting will include people in many different campus roles, including faculty, administration, staff, and students.
Read the Call for Proposals and consider submitting a proposal by the February 1, 2016 deadline.
UMBC's delegations to the annual CLDE meetings have been among the largest, and participants have had opportunities to forge strong connections within and beyond the UMBC team. Each of the past five meetings has featured at least two sessions led by people from UMBC.
If you think you may want to submit a proposal, or to participate in the conference, please get in touch with David Hoffman.
