May 3, 2023 - 12:00-1:00pm | University Center Room 310
The UMBC Department of Education Research Seminar in May will feature special guest Dr. Rebecca Woodard (University of Illinois Chicago) together with Education faculty member Dr. Amy Tondreau. Dr. Woodard will draw from three empirical studies to showcase how embodied literacy pedagogies offer potential for cultivating Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy and call for expanding conceptualizations of Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy to account for contemporary embodied experiences on a planet in crisis. Dr. Tondreau will connect Dr. Woodard's research to her own work to extend Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy through Disability Sustaining Pedagogy, and discuss how these shared interests and ideas are informing their cross-institutional collaboration.
All members of the department, partners/collaborators, and students/faculty from other departments are invited to attend.
Lunch will be provided by the department.
